In 2018, I began working at JobDiva, a CRM/ATS SaaS company serving the staffing industry.
In my 6 years there, I've evolved in my role and taken our small team from little-to-no UX maturity to a medium level of maturity, and during that time, our user base has increased over 65%.
JobDiva, a leading enterprise Software-as-a-Service provider, specializes in a comprehensive CRM and Applicant Tracking Software for the staffing industry. Despite its robust feature set and reputation for delivering effective solutions, when I joined the company in 2018 as a manual QA tester, there was a notable absence of UI/UX infrastructure.
Recognizing this gap, I embarked on a journey into UI design, armed only with a basic sense of digital aesthetics and no formal experience. I began incorporating UI suggestions alongside my bug reports, which gradually evolved into basic mockups—my very first created in Microsoft Word! As I progressed, I taught myself HTML/CSS, and later Python and React, enhancing my ability to convey requirements to the development team.
In 2019, I advanced to creating more polished mockups in Photoshop, eventually transitioning to Sketch and contributing to the development of the company's first design system. By 2022, we had adopted Figma, reflecting our growth and commitment to modern design practices.
Today, UX is integral to JobDiva's development process. I have been responsible for producing the majority of our mockups and prototypes, ensuring that all products undergo a rigorous design review. My unconventional entry into UX has not only shaped my approach but also significantly contributed to the company's design evolution.
